Warning

• The device must only be used by properly trained personnel.
• Do not use the smoke generator while the engine is running.
• Replace the oil regularly and do not overfill.
• Do not operate the device continuously for more than 8 minutes. The unit will shut off automatically. Allow a short cooling period before restarting.
• Caution: The device may become hot during operation.

Application

1. Fill the device with 20–30 ml of smoke oil.
2. Hang the smoke generator in the engine bay using the hook and open the system/line to be tested.
3. Connect the smoke generator hose to the system using a suitable adapter plug (or rubber bulb).
   If only a section of the system is to be tested, seal the hose ends with appropriate plugs.
4. Connect the red clamp to the positive terminal (+) and the black clamp to the negative terminal (–) of the vehicle battery.
5. Switch on the device and start the leak test using the air and smoke switch. After approximately 30 seconds, sufficient smoke will be generated and the system can be checked for leaks.
   If necessary, use a headlamp to better detect escaping smoke.
   The smoke output can be adjusted using the rotary control.

Tip

• The built-in pressure gauge allows detection of pressure drops and even the smallest leaks.
• If the gauge reads 0, the leak is larger than 0.3 mm and must be located visually using the escaping smoke.
• The use of a UV leak detection fluid, e.g. LIM-3339, is possible. This enables leak detection using UV glasses and a lamp, even in hard-to-see areas.

Maintenance

• Before refilling with new oil, drain the old oil via the oil drain valve and dispose of it properly.
• Replace the oil if water droplets are observed coming from the smoke generator hose.
• Change the oil regularly, especially if the device has not been used for an extended period.
