This repair kit is designed for servicing and repairing common shifting problems on VAG 02M 6-speed manual transmissions.
In many cases, shifting problems initially occur when the gearbox is cold, especially during engagement of 2nd gear. As operating temperature increases, material expansion temporarily reduces bearing clearance and may reduce symptoms.
If the problem is ignored, bearing clearance increases further and shifting problems may continue even at operating temperature and affect additional gears.
Continued operation with excessive bearing play may result in damage to the gearbox shaft bearings, requiring complete gearbox removal and disassembly.
The repair kit is intended for inspection and reduction of bearing play before severe transmission damage occurs.
Important Compatibility Information
This repair kit is suitable only for gearboxes equipped with a transmission cover diameter of 79.35 mm.
Some gearboxes use a larger cover with 84.5 mm diameter. This repair kit is not compatible with those versions.
It is strongly recommended to measure the gearbox cover diameter before ordering or installation.
