This 10-piece pressure sleeve set is designed for the easy, professional and damage-free installation of brake caliper piston dust seals that are pressed on from the outside.

Brake caliper repair or replacement of a damaged piston dust seal can be a cost-effective solution, especially because brake calipers are often expensive components. This repair is suitable when the surface inside the cylinder is still intact.

For Externally Pressed Dust Seals

On many brake caliper designs, the dust seal is seated in a groove inside the cylinder. The brake piston is then installed after the seal and holds it securely in place.

Another design, commonly found on VW, Audi and other VAG models, uses a dust seal that is pressed externally onto a raised lip. In this design, the press fit alone holds the seal in position, so correct installation is essential. The seal must not come loose and must provide a reliable barrier against dust and moisture.

Closed Installation Sleeve Design

These mounting rings are manufactured as closed installation sleeves for better handling and durability. The closed rear design allows the sleeves to be used more easily with normal hand tools or a brake piston wind-back tool.

The matching sleeve is positioned together with the seal and pressed on until the seal is fully seated.

Application Notes

Recommended installation sequence:

• Remove the brake caliper.
• Remove the piston using compressed air or a grease gun.
• Remove the old seals and clean all contact surfaces thoroughly.
• Coat the new seals with brake cylinder paste.
• Install the inner piston seal first.
• Position the correct installation sleeve with the dust seal.
• Press the seal fully into place, for example using a brake piston wind-back tool.
• Check the seal for secure seating and damage.
• Hold the brake piston against the seal and apply compressed air through the bleed nipple.
• The seal will fold over onto the piston.
• Push the piston fully into the caliper.

Safety note: When removing the piston, place a piece of wood in the brake caliper and keep fingers away from the danger area.
