This special tool is designed for service work on the pedal assembly and brake hydraulic systems of modern BMW vehicles. It is used to safely lever the brake pedal away from the brake booster or hydraulic unit connection.

Without the correct tool, there is an increased risk of damage to the brake pedal mounting point or retaining mechanism during removal.

Controlled Separation of the Retaining Connection

The lever is positioned on the master cylinder pin and pressed against the rear pedal mounting plate. Its specially designed shape and opening allow the retaining connection between the master cylinder and brake pedal, or between the hydraulic unit and brake pedal, to be separated in a controlled manner.

This ensures safe removal while reducing the risk of component damage.

Important Information for DSCi Brake Systems

BMW DSCi brake systems feature a design in which the brake pedal is directly connected to the hydraulic unit using a pressed-on ball joint connection. The hydraulic unit also incorporates the brake fluid reservoir.

During repairs, the vehicle must remain disconnected from electrical power.

If the vehicle is powered during the repair process, a special brake bleeding procedure may be required afterward.

The vehicle battery should only be reconnected once the brake system has been completely refilled with brake fluid and standard brake bleeding procedures have been completed.
