Engine Timing Tool Set for Jaguar / Land Rover 1.5L PT153 / AJ203P3 Petrol Engines

This specialized timing tool set is designed for Jaguar and Land Rover 1.5L 3-cylinder petrol engines with engine codes PT153 and AJ203P3.

These engines are primarily used in hybrid vehicles and require precise timing alignment during timing chain repair and engine service.

Engine Design Characteristics

The engine features a complex dual timing chain system.

• Timing chain located at the rear of the engine
• Gearbox removal required for timing chain service
• Two timing chains connected via an intermediate gear
• Camshaft and camshaft adjuster positions set using dedicated tools
• Remaining sprockets aligned via colored chain links to timing marks

Important Notes

• In some cases, no thread is present for the camshaft locking tool
• If required, an M6x1 thread must be created using a tap (available as additional tool)

Application Guidelines

• All timing chain sprockets except camshaft and crankshaft should be replaced
• Camshaft adjuster valves must be loosened before removal
• Upper secondary chain tensioner must be removed prior to service
• Ensure correct seating of camshaft adjusters on locating pins
• Six colored chain links must align with six marked positions on sprockets and primary chain guide

• Upper chain tensioner: 55 Nm
• VCT camshaft control valves: 25 Nm + 56°
• Intermediate gear (both chains): 35 Nm
• Intermediate gear (primary chain): 35 Nm
• Crankshaft pulley bolts: 37 Nm + 90°
• Tension rails and side guide (upper secondary chain): 25 Nm
• Tension rails (lower primary chain): 25 Nm
• All other guide rails: 12 Nm
• Front crankshaft seal: 30 Nm
