This flywheel locking tool is designed to securely lock and hold the flywheel during engine service operations. It is essential for safely loosening and tightening high-torque crankshaft bolts, especially on modern Ford engines.
Design & Operation
The tool is installed in place of the starter motor and acts as a mechanical lock against the flywheel ring gear.
- Mounted using the original starter mounting points
- Locking tooth engages directly with the ring gear
- Adjustable locking block allows precise positioning
- Can be disengaged quickly for engine rotation or timing checks
Application
Used during:
- Crankshaft pulley bolt loosening and tightening
- Timing chain and timing belt service
- Engine repair and maintenance
- Engine rotation and timing verification
Important Notes
- Required for engines with extremely high torque specifications
- Designed according to OEM geometry—no need for spacers or washers
- Prevents risk of components falling into the transmission housing
- For engine rotation, simply disengage the locking block from the ring gear
