This expanding thread chaser is designed for restoring damaged or carbon-contaminated M18 × 1.5 spark plug threads.
The tool is first inserted through the spark plug bore with the cutting jaws retracted. Once positioned at the lower end of the bore, the expanding cone opens the cutting jaws so that they engage with the usually undamaged section of the thread.
The thread is then recut and cleaned from the inside towards the outside, allowing the tool to follow the original thread alignment through the damaged section.
Instructions for Use
- Retract the cutting jaws and insert the tool through the spark plug bore.
- Position the tool at the lower, undamaged section of the thread.
- Use the expanding cone to open the cutting jaws until they engage correctly with the original thread.
- Rotate the tool outwards to recut and clean the damaged or carbon-contaminated thread from the inside out.
