These special pliers are designed for repairing fibre-optic systems used in automotive bus networks, including MOST bus systems.
They allow broken or damaged fibre-optic data cables to be prepared for reconnection with a suitable fibre-optic connector.
Precision Cable Preparation
Each stripping stage must be carried out accurately and to the specified dimensions.
- Use the 1.2 mm cutting section to remove the outer cable sheath.
- Trim the exposed aramid fibres to approximately 1 cm.
- Use the medium 0.1 and 0.2 mm cutting sections to remove the protective sheath and prepare the actual light guide to approximately 0.9 mm.
- Use the specially sharpened cutting section to prepare the optical fibre to 0.6 mm.
Installing the Fibre-Optic Connector
After preparing the cable, a suitable fibre-optic connector can be fitted to restore the bus-system connection.
Always follow the vehicle manufacturer’s specifications for the required connector and installation method.
The stated dimensions may vary depending on the connector and repair method used.
Use Only on Fibre-Optic Systems
Use these pliers exclusively for fibre-optic cable systems.
Using the tool on other cable or material types can wear or damage the precision cutting edges. Worn cutting edges can prevent correct cable preparation and may cause increased optical attenuation or interference in the repaired connection.
