This special tool set is designed for replacing the timing chain, camshafts or camshaft adjusters on LTG-generation 2.0L turbo engines.
The tools hold the camshaft components and timing chain securely in position, allowing the engine timing to be set correctly during engine and cylinder head repairs.
Procedure
To hold the camshafts in position, first install and secure the exhaust camshaft adjuster holding tool.
The intake-side timing chain holding tool then keeps the components in position and allows the timing to be adjusted using the alignment markings on the timing chain and drive sprockets.
Always follow the engine-specific repair instructions when positioning and tightening the components.
Reference Tightening Torques
The following values refer to an A20NHT engine with 184 kW / 250 hp fitted to a 2015 Opel Insignia:
- Camshaft adjuster central bolt: 30 Nm + 100°
- Crankshaft central bolt: 150 Nm + 140°
- Timing chain tensioner: 25 Nm
- Guide rail and tensioning rail: 25 Nm
- Oil pump secondary chain guide and tensioning rail: 10 Nm
These values are provided only as a reference. Always verify the correct tightening specifications in the repair documentation for the specific engine and vehicle.
