This specialized tool kit is designed for replacing the timing chain and setting engine timing on Ford 2.0L and 2.3L EcoBoost, SCTi and Ti-VCT engine series.

It is required for precise timing alignment during timing chain service and ensures correct positioning of all timing-related components.

Technical Specification & Notes

Depending on production period, a design change in the camshaft control system was introduced from the 2015 engine update.

To cover both variants, this kit includes both camshaft alignment tools required for engines before and after this update.

An additional locking pin item.no. KT10032 (not included) replaces the 5 mm drill specified in manufacturer repair instructions.

Before loosening the crankshaft pulley, it is recommended to:

  • Mark the tooth position relative to the crankshaft sensor
  • Mark the corresponding reference point on the front timing cover

This ensures correct reassembly and prevents misalignment.


Crankshaft Fixing & TDC Locking

During assembly, crankshaft holding is performed using the TDC stop locking device.

This locking system is designed to withstand:

  • 100 Nm + 90°

Crankshaft Pulley Variants

There are two different crankshaft pulley designs, which determine how the TDC alignment tool must be positioned:

  • Open vibration damper design:
    Locking is performed vertically downward using locking pin item.no. KT10032
  • Closed pulley design:
    Starting from the top tooth, count 20 teeth counterclockwise
    → the alignment tool engages at this position

Additional Technical Notes

Vehicles equipped with air conditioning use a self-tensioning elastic belt.

Damage-free installation is only possible using additional special tooling:

  • Camshaft sprockets: 50 Nm + 90°
  • Crankshaft pulley: 100 Nm + 90°
  • Timing cover & valve cover: 10 Nm (M6)
  • Timing chain guides & tensioner: 10 Nm
  • High-pressure pump: 8 Nm + 60°
  • Water pump pulley: 20 Nm
  • A/C compressor: 25 Nm
  • TDC pin plug: 20 Nm
  • Crankshaft sensor: 7 Nm
