This professional tool kit includes all necessary special tools for timing chain repair and precise timing adjustment on Opel 1.5L and 2.0L diesel engines.

It is designed for engines from the F15 and F20 generations, which are often mixed with D15 and D20 timing belt engines within the same vehicle platforms.


Important Identification Note

Engine identification based solely on VIN or KBA numbers may lead to incorrect tool selection.

Correct engine code verification is essential before performing repairs.


Functionality

The kit enables:

  • Locking and holding of camshaft sprockets
  • Locking and positioning of crankshaft
  • Accurate timing chain alignment
  • Safe disassembly and assembly during engine repair

Technical Notes

Torque Multiplier

According to the repair manual, a torque multiplier is typically required.

However, with the included crankshaft counter-holding tool, tightening and loosening can be performed without a multiplier.


Critical Handling Instructions

  • Locking tools must be removed before final torque tightening
    → Otherwise damage to tools or engine components may occur
  • Camshafts must be counter-held using a wrench (gearbox side) during final tightening
  • Crankshaft rotation is only permitted using the dedicated adapter tool
    → Direct rotation may damage the sensitive crankshaft end surface

Sensor Wheel Alignment

  • The sensor wheel has two holes near the central bolt
  • These must be aligned facing upward before installing the positioning tool

Camshaft Service

  • Camshafts must be fixed using a holding tool before repair
  • Removing camshaft bearing caps without proper holding will damage the frame

High-Pressure Fuel Pump

Before reinstalling:

  • The lowest cam position (BDC) must be checked using a depth gauge (~45 mm)
  • If necessary, rotate crankshaft until correct position is reached

  • Camshaft main chain: 60 Nm + 90°
  • Camshaft secondary chain: 20 Nm + 60°
  • Crankshaft bolt: 180 Nm + 90°
  • Valve cover: 13 Nm
  • Fuel injection pump: 36 Nm
