This thread repair set is designed for restoring damaged or heavily corroded wheel stud threads on trucks and commercial vehicles.
The set includes four split thread chasers covering the most common truck wheel stud thread sizes.
The split design allows each thread chaser to be fitted onto the undamaged section of the wheel stud—typically at the end of the thread—and then worked through the damaged area to restore the thread without removing the wheel stud.

Usage
- Select the split threading die that matches the wheel stud thread.
- Apply grease or heavy machine oil to the damaged wheel stud.
- Open the two spring-loaded halves of the split threading die and position them on an undamaged section of the thread, typically at the end of the wheel stud.
- Place the adapter over the wheel stud and onto the split threading die, ensuring the locating pins engage correctly with the die.
- Push the adapter fully home until it completely encloses the split threading die.
- Using a suitable drive tool, such as a 32 mm socket with a sliding T-handle, turn the adapter counterclockwise over the damaged thread.
- Regularly turn the threading die back by approximately half a turn to break the chips. Continue until the die passes completely over the damaged section and comes off the thread.
- Clean the wheel stud thoroughly, removing all lubricant and metal chips.
- Check the repaired thread by carefully threading on a wheel nut. Always follow the vehicle manufacturer's recommendations regarding lubrication of wheel studs.
- Clean the split threading die before returning it to the storage case.
