This engine timing tool kit is specifically designed for checking and adjusting the engine timing on Opel Ecotec V6 multi-valve engines.
It enables precise locking and alignment of crankshaft and camshafts during maintenance procedures such as timing belt service or engine repair.

Functionality
This tool kit allows:
- Secure locking of crankshaft and camshafts
- Accurate alignment of valve timing

Installation
- Remove the timing belt cover, serpentine belt (multi-rib belt), tensioner, crankshaft pulley, and any other components that obstruct access to the timing belt.
- Rotate the crankshaft to just before Top Dead Center (TDC) of cylinder 1, then install the crankshaft locking tool.
- Carefully continue rotating the crankshaft until the crankshaft locking tool is fully engaged and the camshaft locking tools can be installed as follows:
The camshaft sprockets should now align with their timing marks.- Install locking tool 1 (red) between the sprockets of the right cylinder bank
- Install locking tool 2 (green) between the sprockets of the left cylinder bank
The camshafts are now locked in position.
- Adjust the crankshaft locking tool so that, via the locking arm, the crankshaft is securely supported against the pump housing in the TDC position.
- Once all locking tools are installed, release the tensioner pulley and remove the old timing belt.
It is strongly recommended to replace all idler pulleys and the tensioner pulley at the same time. - Install the new timing belt, ensuring correct alignment.
- The timing marks on the belt must align with the marks on the camshaft sprockets
- The directional arrow on the belt must point in the direction of engine rotation

Camshaft Timing Adjustment Using Setting Gauge
- With the crankshaft locked at TDC, install the camshaft timing gauge onto the camshaft sprockets and evaluate the camshaft position.
- If the camshaft sprocket marks are positioned ahead of the gauge marks, correct the position by rotating the lower timing belt guide pulley counterclockwise.
- If the camshaft sprocket marks are positioned behind the gauge marks, correct the position by rotating the lower timing belt guide pulley clockwise.
- Tighten all bolts and tensioners according to the manufacturer’s specifications, then reassemble the vehicle in reverse order.

Important:
Always follow the vehicle manufacturer’s instructions to ensure correct timing belt installation.
Warning:
The timing belt must never be removed without first locking the camshaft sprockets and crankshaft in the Top Dead Center (TDC) position.
