Front Crankshaft Oil Seal Installation Tool for BMW M47 and M57

This tool set is designed for the damage-free installation of the front PTFE crankshaft oil seal on BMW M47 and M57 engines.

The installation cone first allows the oil seal to be carefully guided by hand onto the crankshaft. The adapter is then secured in position, creating a precise central guide for the press sleeve.

The press sleeve is used to press the oil seal evenly into the timing case cover until it reaches its final installation position.

Installation Procedure

• Place the PTFE oil seal onto the installation cone.
• Carefully slide the oil seal by hand onto the crankshaft.
• Secure the centring device in position.
• Position the press sleeve using the established central guide.
• Press the oil seal evenly into the timing case cover until it is fully seated.

Scope of Delivery

• 1 x press sleeve for drawing the radial shaft seal into the timing case cover, as BMW 0491057 and 115110
• 1 x installation cone and sliding sleeve for fitting the oil seal into the lower timing case cover, as BMW 0493378 and 116470
• 1 x centring device for establishing a precise central guide, as BMW 0493381 and 116490
