Special optical centre punch for accurately marking the centre of broken bolts, studs and other workpieces before drilling.
The optical insert provides 9x magnification and an integrated crosshair, allowing the holder to be positioned precisely over the centre of the damaged fastener. The optical insert is then replaced by the centre punch without moving the holder.
This produces an accurately positioned punch mark that helps prevent the drill bit from wandering and reduces the risk of damaging the surrounding component or original thread.
Application
- Check the broken surface of the bolt or stud. If it is uneven or angled, file or grind it as flat as possible.
- Place the non-slip holder with the optical crosshair over the broken fastener.
- Use the 9x magnification and crosshair to align the holder precisely with the centre.
- Hold the holder firmly in position and remove the optical insert.
- Insert the centre punch into the guide without moving the holder.
- Strike the centre punch with a hammer to create the marking at the selected position.
- Use the centre mark to guide the drill bit during the subsequent drilling operation.
