Parking Brake Basic Adjustment
When replacing parking brake components, a basic adjustment procedure is required.
Example procedure for Mercedes-Benz Vito W639 (similar for related models):
- Release the parking brake cable equalizer beneath the vehicle.
- Remove one wheel bolt.
- Adjust the rear brake shoe adjuster until the wheel locks.
- Back off the adjuster by 9 turns and verify free wheel rotation.
- Adjust the cable equalizer so that, at the first click of the parking brake pedal, the wheels can still just be rotated by hand.
