Professional SAC clutch installation and removal tool set designed for fast and precise servicing of self-adjusting clutch (SAC) systems and conventional clutch assemblies.

The tool kit allows proper installation and removal of SAC clutches while preventing incorrect adjustment of the self-adjusting mechanism during assembly.

Without the correct SAC installation tools, proper clutch installation is nearly impossible and may lead to clutch malfunction, poor disengagement, slipping, juddering or premature clutch failure.

The set enables precise clutch disc centering and secure resetting of the adjustment ring mechanism.

Instructions for SAC Clutch Installation / Removal / Preloading / Alignment Tool

Please understand that it is not possible to list every different clutch type.
Always use the appropriate workshop manuals and follow the vehicle manufacturer's specifications.


1.1 Reinstallation of an Existing Clutch System

  • If the clutch components are to be reused, it is recommended to lock the clutch self-adjusting mechanism with clamp 5 before removal.
  • Otherwise, before reinstallation, the pressure plate must be actuated centrally and then reset.

1.2 BMW SAC Clutch Systems and Other Preloaded Designs

  • Due to the clutch locking mechanism, the long universal locking tool 10 cannot be used.
  • In these cases, guide pins 4 must be used instead.
  • Center the clutch disc on the flywheel using the appropriate guide pin 4.
  • Install and tighten the pressure plate.
  • The pressure plate locking mechanism can then be removed, and the guide pin extracted using the supplied screw.

1.3 Installation of a Non-Preloaded Clutch System

  • First assemble the universal centering mandrel 10.
    • Select the correct universal expanding adapter according to the clutch disc size and replace it if necessary (15–22 mm or 22–28 mm).
    • Use the appropriate pilot shaft 7 for the crankshaft bore or pilot bearing and screw it onto the tip of the centering tool.
  • Position the clutch disc on the flywheel using the universal locking tool 10 and secure it by expansion.
  • The pressure plate can now be positioned and held in place by screwing in the retaining bolts 9:
    • 3 bolts for 6-hole / 9-hole bolt patterns
    • 4 bolts for 4-hole / 8-hole bolt patterns
  • Screw the pressure spindle 3 into the base plate 1 and slide the assembly over the universal centering tool 10 on the vehicle until it contacts the retaining bolts 9.
  • Secure the tool using the knurled nuts 8 and install the T-handle with nut 6.
  • By turning the T-handle 6, the clutch is actuated. Continue turning until the pressure plate fully contacts the flywheel.
  • Install the mounting bolts into the remaining holes and tighten them until seated.
  • Turn back the T-handle 6 and remove the tool from the vehicle.
  • Install the remaining bolts and tighten all fasteners to the specified torque.
